How to Maintain Your Wooden Floors After Sanding, Expert Tips.

So, your floors have just been sanded and finished and they look stunning. Now the key question is: how do you keep them that way?

Whether you have chosen lacquer, hard wax oil, or another finish, here are our top maintenance tips to ensure your wooden floors stay in top shape for years.

1. Daily Care

  • Sweep or vacuum regularly with a soft brush head

  • Use a dry or slightly damp microfiber mop

2. Use the Right Cleaners

Avoid harsh chemical cleaners. Use pH neutral products specifically designed for wooden floors, at Local Wood Floor Sanding, we supply the correct cleaner for your floor, after every job.

3. Protect High-Traffic Areas

Use mats or rugs in entrances and high use spots. Add felt pads to furniture legs to avoid scratching.

4. Avoid Excess Moisture

Never soak the floor. Spills should be wiped up to prevent water damage.

5. Reapply Finish When Needed

Depending on usage, floors finished with oil may need a top up every few years, but if you keep the basic maintenance up, it could be several years. Lacquered floors may require light recoating after a few years.
